Mindfulness practice as support in prison, serving as a basis for making meaningful and value-oriented new decisions.
Objectives of Lernraum Knast
The association "Lernraum Knast e.V." was founded in 2020 by mindfulness teachers who also want to bring their experience and tools to prisons and make them available to inmates there. The goal is to make the time in prison a time of reorientation. The basic aspects of mindfulness, such as impulse control and emotion regulation, are important tools for many people serving prison sentences. Reflective discussions about the meaning of life and a reorientation towards values during and after imprisonment are an important means of prevention to prevent further offenses.
Prevention work in schools
Again and again, prisoners want to make a meaningful contribution to our society after their release. For this purpose, we offer them, for example, training as an anti-violence trainer, anti-bullying trainer, etc. With such a qualification, they are then able to carry out prevention work in schools, for example. They can also directly reach students in drug prevention work through their own experience. Mindfulness courses at the JVAs
The Lernraum Knast project would like to try to offer mindfulness courses nationwide in all prisons. Trainers with experience in teaching mindfulness are being sought for this purpose. These should be placed at JVAs in the local area. The association offers ongoing support and supervision for these trainers, as well as teaching materials on request.
Further use of donations for:
- Creation and printing of a trainer's manual for working in prisons
- Supervision for trainers
- Financing of training courses (e.g. anti-violence trainer training or anti-bullying trainer training) for suitable former prisoners
- Financing of art projects with prisoners
We need money for our activities. Therefore, our request: Help us to carry the seeds of change to where society likes to look away: into our prisons. Every euro is well invested. Because: They (almost) all come back. And: every young person who gets it right is worth it.
