The Vision of the BuddhaStiftung
The BuddhaStiftung is a non-profit and independent foundation dedicated to sharing the teachings of the Buddha. In a time when spiritual practice is important to many people, our network aims to provide a space for exchange, learning, and collective growth.
Pragmatic and Applied
Our goal is to make the central insights and practical applications of the Buddha's teachings accessible to a broad public in an understandable and practical form.
Secular and Open
Our approach is to convey these contents free from dogmatic or metaphysical beliefs, making them accessible to people with diverse backgrounds and prior knowledge. In doing so, we also refer to modern scientific findings, philosophical approaches, and psychological methods.
Ethically Motivated
Is the BuddhaStiftung a religious organization?
The BuddhaStiftung is not a religious institution or community. Rather, we offer a framework for an experience-based, Buddhist practice that includes ethical action and scientific insight. Everyone is free to view their own practice as religious, spiritual, or philosophical. We do not propagate the teachings of a specific teacher or school. Instead, we encourage everyone to find their own path, inspired by the principles of Dharma but without dogmatic prescriptions. Our community is open to all who are interested in a mindful, compassionate, and responsible way of life, regardless of their ideological or religious background.
How do we realize our vision?
The BuddhaStiftung promotes both individual and communal practice of the Dharma to support people on their path to a mindful, ethical, and compassionate life. On our homepage, we offer access to diverse resources and offerings that enable everyone to deepen their personal practice, for example, through online courses, meditation instructions, and connecting with qualified Dharma and meditation teachers. The foundation places great importance on promoting communal practice and exchange. This is reflected in the support of local meditation groups, the offering of online forums and networks such as BuddhiNet, and the organization of symposia, lectures, retreats, and workshops.
Who is part of our network?
Our network consists of people with diverse cultural, ideological, and spiritual backgrounds. Whether from Buddhist traditions, humanist, agnostic, or other secular contexts – all share an interest in a Buddhism based on compassion, reflection, and practical application in daily life.
Volunteer Engagement and Contribution
The BuddhaStiftung's activities are supported by volunteers. People from various walks of life contribute their time, skills, and experience to work together towards achieving our goals. We invite all interested individuals to actively participate in our projects – for example, by co-creating Events, assisting with organizational tasks, or contributing other skills, especially in the areas of internet and media.
